How car seats are installed
There are two common ways to secure a car seat. Our team will show you the right one for your car and your seat.
Seatbelt installation
The car’s seatbelt is wrapped around the car seat to hold it firmly in place.
ISOFIX installation
It takes two simple steps. First, click the car seat onto the ISOFIX points. Then extend the load leg for extra stability and a more secure fit.
Common car seat mistakes to avoid
- Buying before checking for ISOFIX. Make sure your car has ISOFIX before you choose a seat that uses it. Not sure? Bring your car in and we will look at it with you.
- Not using the load leg. Extending it adds stability and holds the seat more securely.
- A loose installation. A car seat that wobbles has not been installed properly, so let our team check it for you.
- Not checking the seat fits your car. Some cars, such as the Vellfire and Alphard, have passenger seats that do not suit every car seat. A sloping back seat can also stop a seat from reaching the recline angle you want. Trying the seat in your car first avoids both problems.

Choosing between older and newer car seats? R129 is the newer and more advanced standard, with features such as 360 rotation, ISOFIX and a load leg, depending on the brand. R44 seats are usually fitted with the seatbelt only. Our team can show you the difference on the seats in store.

Does my car need ISOFIX?
Only if you choose a car seat that uses ISOFIX, and not every car has it. Check before you buy. If you are not sure, bring your car to our store and we will go through it with you.
What is the difference between R44 and R129 car seats?
R129 is the newer and more advanced car seat standard. R44 seats are usually fitted with the seatbelt only, do not rotate, and have fewer recline positions and safety features. R129 seats add features such as 360 rotation, ISOFIX and a load leg, although exactly what you get depends on the brand.
